The 540it accelerates very quickly for a sporting wagon, covering 0-60 mph in just over 6.0 seconds with the automatic / sport shift transmission. With its tremendous torque, this engine does give the 540i a significant advantage in sporting appeal versus the BMW 528i. The 5 Series BMWs offer superb handling and reacts crisply to steering inputs and is a pleasure to drive under any conditions / roads.
